Striving to be the Best Midwest Food Photographer
I am obsessed with the beauty of professionally prepared food photography and strive to be the best in the Midwest. Studying, practicing, and perfecting the art and technology required to create seductive food and drink photos for twenty years, I’ve learned how to focus the viewer’s attention on colors and textures, emphasizing the flavor of the food. I always aim for viewers to crave the food they see in my images. I want them to taste the food with their eyes.

Experienced food photography requires creativity and technical knowledge
My food photography, leans heavily on creativity and extensive knowledge of lighting and equipment allowing me to tailor images to fit your style.
Do you need your new images to match the style of existing photos for branding reasons? Perhaps you need to replicate the style of food photos you’ve seen online or in a magazine; I have you covered. I am a student of how light falls and reflects on food; how choosing and setting lenses helps to guide the eye, ultimately to find just the right focal point. Having analyzed and replicated so many other photographers’ lighting setups for twenty years as a professional food photographer has helped me to morph into my own personal style and still reproduce the look of other food photographers when the need arises.
Working together we will generate a catalog of great images
Together, we will consider the aesthetic of your brand or the ambiance of your restaurant, helping to define your style. Both the environment and the menu will guide, to a greater or lesser degree, our photographic approach.
Consider these two examples.
- A dark and intimate dinner restaurant serving New York Steak with Béarnaise.
- A bright and cheery lunch spot, flooded with an ocean of window light, serving a Lemon-glazed Salmon Salad.
The former may require moody lighting and background; the latter a more vibrant lighting setup and background.
Tell me about the menu items you want to photograph, whether you want to include dining areas or if you want lifestyle shots with guests, waiters, or cooks. As we partner together, we can hone to a fine edge the plan for your catalog of images. Call 563-388-0099 or use my contact page for a free consultation to start a conversation.
Online hunter-gatherers need visual stimulation
There are few types of imagery as captivating as food photography. Food brings out our inner animal. These days, your customers surf the web before they reserve a table. It is imperative that your website shows your food in its best light. That’s where I come in; lighting for texture, color, form, and mood, with an eye towards a convergence of emotional attraction and carnal desire. I approach every dish with this in mind, sculpting with light, experimenting with prop placement, and gently tweaking the dish presented. Stalking my prey, camera in hand, as a food photographer, I am ultimately concerned with generating an emotional response from the viewer and my client’s satisfaction and success.
My goal: creating the best food photography available
I typically work in restaurants from Chicago to Des Moines. My office is in the Quad Cities, and I travel wherever needed. I energize the creative process by working with chefs (and stylists if hired) to make the most of any dish I photograph. My demeanor keeps things moving seamlessly and efficiently on set with a fun and professional vibe.
Anyone at the shoot may view and critique images wirelessly transmitted to an iPad. This excellent tool allows for solid decisions on presentation, lighting, props, crop, and other vital factors. Rest assured, you will be satisfied with the results.
I am devoted to my art form and my client’s success. I hope you hire me as I work towards being the best Midwest food photographer available. Allow me to serve you by photographing the food you proudly serve to others.
